Peter Ainsworth Newsletter Summer 2015

Uncategorized

Hello,

I wanted to make you aware of a couple of events that I am involved with over the next few weeks.

On the 6th June 2015 I will be presenting an academic paper at the ‘21st Century Photography: art, philosophy, techniques’ conference at Central Saint Martins. The paper is entitled, ‘Evidence, 1977 and Graham Harman’s Third Table’. It is an adaption of a very short piece that I performed in April at the Evidence Conference, as part of Format15. There are a lot of amazing speakers at CSM over the two days so it should be a great event.

In terms of my visual work I am in the process of finishing a film. The work is a pseudo-nature documentary inspired by David Attenborough’s ‘Private Life of Plants’, 1995 via David Lynch’s ‘Eraser Head’, 1977. It will be a re-interpretation of a natural history documentary focusing on non-living material, an exploration of the strangeness of expandable foam. The film will be presented at the Lumen Festival, Staten Island, NY on the 20th May as part of a program curated by George Lionel Barker.

Finally I will be opening the studio that I share with the fantastic Ania Dabrowska, as part of Hackney WickED Festival on the weekend of the 27/28th June. I will be presenting some new sculptural pieces, videos and photographs. The address is First Floor, Dace Road, London E3 2NQ

If you are in London and able to come and say hello you will be very welcome,

That’s it for now,

Peter
