Experiments at George and Jorgen gallery.

Experiments, Unsounded Surplus

These shots were taken at George and Jorgen galleries new space in Bermondsey. The space is in flux. The walls are built but the identity of the white cube has not yet been established. I was intending to document the sculptural marks: the filling, and sanding that polish the space and change its structure.

The problem was that there was no electricity, and I had no lights or flash gun so decided to paint (by hand) with a torch. I like this process as it allows you the degree of control present in the darkroom. It is a way of literally highlighting what you find interesting in the space. A painterly process reminiscent of Baldessari’s pointing photographs.
