Adrian Villar Rojas’s installation ‘Return the World’ was a real inspiration and surprise. Consisting of a series of sculptural works with a coating of unfired clay that was cracked by the sun the sculptures were installed in a tiered garden giving the feeling of walking round Pompei. The pseudo Romanesque architectural forms worked really well in relation to the neo-classical gardens. The creation of a series of bells underneath a flyover underpass silent in their monumental form were resonant in theior austere silence. These objects placed in a ‘third space’, totally transformed the experience of the site. The work has made me consider my relationship to my own work; within the canals and surroundings of the A406. There are a series of materials there that I would like to utilize in the creation of a more large scale sculptural, and indeed performative intervention.
