Highlights from dOCUMENTA(13). Bani Abidi

Bani Abidi’s Death at a 30 Degree Angle depicting the process of a master sculpture and the discussion making  of  a middle ranking politician who wants to immortalize themselves in the medium of monumental sculpture. The piece is very witty and beautifully shot. The two screen video, projected onto roughly painted ply, resting at an acute angle against the wall of the gallery and the detritus of a building site (pallets utalised as chairs for the viewer, polythene, paint and scaffolding)  enhance the experience of the piece creating an interesting equivalence between what the film is depicting and the space in which the piece is seen.
